European Health Leadership Award 2024

The European Health Leadership Award (EHLA) showcases and supports the achievements of individuals and organisations that display exceptional leadership in safeguarding or improving the health of people in the WHO European Region. The award includes prize money of EUR 10.000, is funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection and is organised by the European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG).

The EHLA encourages winners to become an inspiration for others and supports them in generating a greater impact. Each year, the EHLA tries to identify and support change-makers whose work represents efforts in line with the EHFG main theme. This year, we want to focus on the profound demographic change that Europe is facing and what the consequences of this will be for the wider societal and health landscape.

The 2024 edition seeks to identify an ongoing initiative that has had an impact on any of the following areas linked to the theme of shifting demographics:

  • Healthy ageing
  • Promoting health among youth
  • Involving youth in public health policy-making
  • Future health workforce
  • Migration and health systems
  • Silver economy
