W3 WORKSHOP
Organised by DG Research and Innovation (DG RTD), European Commission
Mental disorders place a heavy burden on Europe, both on the individual and at societal level. However, many new ideas and models of prevention and care are being developed and tested, including various e-tools.
In this workshop we will focus on and discuss how we can best take advantage of the social innovation and technological progress available to us in preventing and treating mental illness.
Engaged in a round-table debate with the audience, experts in the field – researchers, policy-makers, NGO and patients' representatives – will share their experience in making healthcare more effective and efficient through medical, technical and societal progress. Discuss patients' views on the new tools. Examine how the new tools are integrated into existing health and care systems, how to guarantee the best quality and how insurers view the innovations.
The outcome of this debate should provide ideas for policy and research to facilitate and further extend successful innovative models and tools to prevent and treat mental illness.
