P2 PLENARY SESSION
There is scarcely a single policy area that is not somehow affected by health and vice versa. Not only is the good health of European citizens a value in itself, but it is also essential for social cohesion. A healthy workforce is the cornerstone of a productive economy, and the health sector can be an important driver for growth and innovation. Health is also an important aspect of foreign and development policies.
As well known demographic trends begin to take effect, it is vital that Europe's approach to health policy is able to both enhance health promotion and prevention of illness as well as ensuring a high level of health security and the delivery of high quality universal care.
This session will explore how to achieve greater coherence in European health policy with senior European policy-makers.
The round-table discussion with senior representatives of the European Commission, the WHO and the healthcare industry will focus on the following questions:
