L3 LUNCH WORKSHOP
Organised by Swiss Federal Office of Public Health in collaboration with the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies
Improving the skill-mix for chronic care
The health workforce makes a huge contribution to health system performance. The wide variations in how European countries configure their workforce (general practitioners, specialists, nurses, dentists, pharmacists and the plethora of allied health professions) make it an ideal test bed for comparing skill-mix reforms, particularly in light of demographic and coordinated/integrated care developments.
This workshop will discuss how innovations in skill-mix can contribute to improve chronic care, in terms of both quality and efficiency. We will attempt to identify optimal skill-mix compositions as well as cooperative arrangements between healthcare professions in different chronic care settings by looking at various experiences. We will in particular focus on:
Speakers
Yann Bourgueil, Institute for Research and Information in Health Economics (IRDES), France
Claudia Maier, University of Pennsylvania, Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research, USA
Further panelists and speakers will be announced.
Moderation
Tania Dussey-Cavassini, Vice-Director General, Federal Office of Public Health, Switzerland
